 23 November 2009 (1.00pm – 5.00pm)

*****

Join FutureGov and Capital Ambition as we tear up the policy makers’ rule book and address the radical idea of asking citizens what they think would make good policy.

We've invited the makers of some useful tools to get involved and demo what is possible.  Find out what residents really want to ask in your local authority area using Yoosk; let the debate rage constructively with Debatewise; have your own ideas factory with Uservoice; get a simple way to hear thoughts about a policy area with Audioboo/Videoboo; discover how people are having their own Quiet Riots; and see what people really want to know about with GovDelivery.

Stuffy focus groups, the 'usual suspects' and regurgitated government papers are things of the past.  This free session, designed for those with responsibility for policy making, communications and community engagement, will introduce attendees to online tools that can help councils to gather ideas and input from their citizens.

With case studies, talks, demonstrations and practical exercises this workshop is a chance to find out how social media can connect councils with their citizens and challenge the way policy making has traditionally been done.
